We currently cater for up to 40 children between the ages of 3 and 6 in our two pre-primary groups.
Each group is looked after by a Montessori teacher as well as full-time assistant.
In this period of development, the children are absorbing the culture of their group, their society, and developing intellectually, physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually in a positive social environment.
The environment is prepared to meet the needs of the child for independence.
The child is able to choose work - purposeful activity that engages the child mentally and physically.
Respect is a key component in any Montessori environment; respect for one's self, respect for other people, respect for the equipment and respect for environment.
Through their self-chosen work in the 5 main areas (practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics and cultural), the child develops the abilities and habits of life-long learning and social conduct, self-discipline, decision-making, initiative, interest, concentration, persistence, responsibility, awareness and care towards others.
