History of the Hermanus Montessori School

The school started in Annette Westcott’s home in 1983 and due to growing numbers moved to the Masonic Lodge in 1984. By September 1986 ground was obtained from the municipality and a school was built in the present location in Fairways Avenue. The Primary class opened on 18 June 1988. Currently we offer tuition to children aged 18 months – 12 years. The school is registered with the Western Cape Education Department and SAMA (South African Montessori Association) and all teachers are affiliated to SACE (South African Council for Educators). We run as a section 21 company and is governed by a Board of Directors.
