The Introductory- and Pre-Primary class
“Give the child the world” – Cosmic Education
We offer the Montessori way of teaching to 18 month to 3 year olds in the Introductory class. Here our children are introduced to basic Montessori concepts and at their own pace learn in the areas of Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language and Culture.
From here they move on to the Pre-Primary class ranging in age from 3-6 years.
A child entering a Montessori environment will begin with Practical Life exercises for example how to pour water, how to button and unbutton and how to polish shoes etc. From this, children develop co-ordination, concentration, satisfaction and confidence, self-discipline and orderly working habits.
Sensorial materials fulfil their desire to touch, taste and feel the world around them. These activities are designed to develop their ability to discriminate between fine differences in height, length, weight, colour, taste, smell and shapes to process their impressions.
Both Practical Life and Sensorial Materials indirectly prepare the child for writing in a progressive manner.
As a result some pre-schoolers are ready to be introduced to reading, writing and mathematics. Together with the directress the children have the opportunity to work with self-correcting materials in small groups or individually.
